Cindy Young

Melva Cynthia Young, 62, of Chattanooga, died Saturday, April 22, 2017 in a local hospital.   

A longtime resident of Chattanooga and formerly of Trenton, GA, Mrs. Young was a self-taught artist and loved to travel but  her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren.

She was of the Baptist faith and was formerly co-owner of Lookout Auto Care.

She was preceded in death by her husband James “Jim” Young;  sister, Debra Shirley and parents, Melvin and Charline Simpson.

Survivors are her three daughters, Melissa (Tommy) Cates,  Crystal Simpson both of Chattanooga and Dawn (Tony) Dabbs, Trenton;  two sisters,  Alice Buchanan, Ft. Oglethorpe, GA and Sheila (Chuck) Shoulders, Seattle, WA;  brother, Marty Simpson, Rossville;  five grandchildren, Marcus Wheeler, Lauren and Owen Dabbs, Zach and Zoe Cates;  two great-grandchildren, Addy Green and Ayden Wheeler;  several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Monday, April 24 at 1 PM in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Bill Owens officiating.
