David J. Jolley, 70 of Harrison, died on Thursday, August 24th, 2017, peacefully with his son, Jason, at his side.

David was a Vietnam Veteran who fought under the United States Marine Corp.  After his tour of Duty and an Honorable Discharge, he finished college at the University of Chattanooga. David’s carrer included time as a Realtor, Mortgage Loan Officer and Computer Programmer.

Tennessee Deer Hunters should bend a knee....The deer world recently lay witness to the passing of a gentle giant.  David Jolley, was a man behind the scenes in the Tennessee deer world who helped create what you all enjoy today.  Few knew of David's impact but all should be thankful for his contributions. A passionate hunter, fisher, and outdoorsman, he was also a computer genius. Along with a few of his closest friends, David was one of the co-creators of the TN Deer website in the late 90’s.  His biggest contributions, however came through his donations to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency and the white-tailed deer program. David was the one that helped pioneer the Hunter's Toolbox and put Tennessee deer data at the fingertips of all Tennessee hunters. He not only made that information accessible to you, he made better biologists of us all since there was now complete transparency and with that came accountability.  David also designed the first Tennessee Deer Registry program and created the Registry website, so anyone that has ever had a deer scored and make the registry can thank David for that. Though he spent countless hours and Lord knows how much of his own money creating these works of wonder for the hunters of Tennessee he never charged the agency a nickel.  He was a great man, a great hunter, but most of all, a great friend. He will truly be missed.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Helen Jolley.

He is survived by his son, Jason (Amy) Jolley and grandson, Scout Jolley; brothers, Paul (Rhonda) Jolley) and Joe (Sandy) Jolley Jr.; sister, Madeline J. Erwin, along with many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, August 29, in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Foundation, Attn:  David Jolley Memorial Fund, 5000 Linbar Drive, Suite 275, Nashville, TN 37211, as these funds will be used to advance conservation issues and those projects David held near.
