Ernestine "Ernie" Norvell Weigel

Ernestine “Ernie” Norvell Weigel, of Chattanooga, died January 1, 2018, just a few days before her 98th birthday.

A longtime resident of Lookout Mountain, TN., she attended Sullins College and was a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority.

Mrs. Weigel held memberships with the Mountain City Club, the Junior League and was a lifelong member of the Episcopal Church.   She had served on the boards of the Junior League and the Y.W.C.A. and had served as President of the Junior League Garden Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Blair Weigel.

She is survived by two sons,  Blair A. Weigel, Linda Jones; Sarasota, FL, and Edward R. “Ned” Weigel, Richard Lee; Chattanooga, and  grandson, Blair A. Weigel, Jr., Lauren Weigel; Sarasota, FL.

The family wishes to thank her faithful caregivers and special friends, Sylvia Jackson, Rachel Lindsey and Marilyn Ford, and also Hospice of Chattanooga for their tender care.

Ernie had many loving and devoted friends over the decades.

A private burial will be held at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
