Gloria Jones

Gloria Long Jones passed away on February 16, 2018. She was born in Chattanooga and graduated from Chattanooga High School.

She will always be remembered for her ever-present smile and welcoming visits with friends, and the joy of her life and precious memories were of her world travels with Dad.

She was proud to have been one of the first Secretaries for the Chattanooga Hamilton County Medical Society located in the Medical Arts Building. She was formerly employed by Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons.

She served as an officer and on the Board of Directors for East Brainerd Elementary School PTA, Kosmos Junior Woman’s Club, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Chattanooga Ostomy Association, Chattanooga Area Medical Managers Association, American Association of Medical Assistants, Volunteer Erlanger Medical Auxillary, and the Ronald McDonald Family Room.

She was a former member of First Presbyterian Church and the Lee Anderson Sunday School Class. She presently was a member of GraceWorks Church.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 68 years Eugene (Gene) L. Jones, Jr.; children Dr. Hal (Kim) Jones, Suzanne (Dr. Michael) Behrend; grandchildren Avery Calhoun, Brian Jones, Brooks Jones, Conner Jones, Chase Carlton, Blair Carlton, and Weller (Cami) Carlton; great-grandchildren Bennett Calhoun and Quinn Calhoun; special cousin Joan Minks; sisters Eleanor Perkinson (Macon, GA) and Margaret (Gary) Godfrey (Cleveland, TN); cousins, Sheryl (Scott) Flory and Paul (Gail) Petrie; and several nieces and nephews.

Gene, Suzanne, and Hal would like to thank the compassionate and caring staff of Life Care Center of Ooltewah during her recent stay. Mom was so appreciative of the loving care she received from everyone involved including the doctor, director, and nurses, and especially Dana and Temeka.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 20th at 1:00 pm at GraceWorks Church at 6445 Lee Highway with a Memorial Service to follow at 3:00 pm with Pastor Bill Owens officiating.
