Margaret Blake Bizzell "Peggy" died peacefully at her home under the care of hospice on Sunday, October 1, 2017, at the age of 85.

 

Born January 17, 1932 in Chattanooga to Charles Edward Blake and Margaret Wells Blake. Peggy was proud of her heritage in being a 4th generation in Chattanooga and the First Presbyterian Church, where she was a member until her death. Peggy was educated at The Bright School, Girls' Preparatory School, and the University of Mississippi where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. She completed her education at The Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in New York City.

 

Peggy married the late LeRoy A. Bizzell, Sr. and raised her family on Lookout Mountain. Her passion was volunteer work at the First Presbyterian Church where she was involved in the Women of the Church, the Missionary Closet, and her most recent passion the History Committee. She was an active volunteer for 32 years with Changed Lives. She was member of the National Society of the Colonial Dames, the Junior League of Chattanooga, and the Outlook Club of Lookout Mountain.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Edward Wells Blake, and her husband LeRoy A. Bizzell, Sr.

 

She is survived by her 3 children: Margaret Bizzell Damm (Chris); LeRoy A. Bizzell, Jr. (Kristine); and J. David Bizzell (Laurie). She is survived by 6 grandchildren: Emma Damm, Meaghan Bizzell, Ashley Bizzell, Alex Bizzell, Austin Bizzell, and Allison Bizzell.

 

Special heartfelt thanks to Kim Walker's Home Healthcare and all her staff for the competent, dedicated, and compassionate care Peggy received. Also, many thanks for excellent care from Hospice of Chattanooga.

 

Peggy requested that memorial contributions be made to the History Committee of the First Presbyterian Church of Chattanooga or Hospice of Chattanooga.

 

The funeral service will be conducted at 11 AM on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Chris Ehlers officiate. The family will receive friends prior to service at 9:30 AM in the church connector. The burial will be held at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
