Mary Fain Payne

Mary Fain Payne, 92, East Brainerd went to be with the Lord, January 2, 2018.

A lifelong resident of Chattanooga, Mary was the daughter of the late Charles and Jessie Fain.   

Mary was a graduate of City High School and met the love of her life , Raymond Payne on a blind date. 

She worked for several years as bookkeeper and receptionist with Ray when he opened his Real Estate Property Management firm, Ray Payne & Associates.

Mary was a loving mother and homemaker always putting her family first in all things.

She was a devout Christian living her faith and practiced “the Golden Rule”.  She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church.

Mary was preceded in death  by her husband Raymond;  and her grandson, Tyler Whittier.

Survivors are her son, Robert Payne;  daughter, Mary Catherine (Steve) Whittier;  grandsons, Spencer (Ali) Whittier and Carter (Megan) Whittier.

Private graveside services for family and friends will be held Monday at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
