Roy L. Lucas, 98, of East Ridge went home to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday morning October 17, 2017 at 3:42 am at home with his family.
Roy was a longtime resident of East Ridge and was a retired Sales Manufacturer Rep for Bunch & Kelly Co. after a long standing career. After Roy’s retirement, he worked as an ambassador for Heritage Funeral Home.
He served in World War II as a Corporal with the US Marine Corp.
Roy was well-known in the Chattanooga area serving in the Music Ministry since 1938 in many area churches including Hughes Avenue Baptist, Kingpoint Baptist, West LaFayette Baptist, East Athens Baptist, Signal Hill Baptist, Fellowship Baptist, Unity Baptist and serving for many years as Music Director at Temple Baptist Church. At the time of his death he was a member of Morris Hill Baptist Church.
Roy was the son of the late Solomon and Tildie Lucas. He was preceded in death on April 30, 2016 by the love of his life, Tommye Sue Martin Lucas after sharing 69 years together.
Roy is survived by his daughters, Debby (Jerry) Weaver, Chattanooga and Renee Lucas, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; four grandchildren, Shane (Jessica) Burnette, Ashley Burnette, Tara Weaver and Russ (Kay) Weaver; three great-grandchildren, Spencer Lucas Burnette, George Weaver and Mary Cosette Weaver.
Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday at 7 PM in the chapel with Rev. Gene Butler, Rev. T.D. Burgess and Rev. Bill Mason officiating. Graveside service will be at 12:30 PM Friday at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Rev. George Wallace officiating.
The family would like to thank his caregivers, Rhonda Gilliland, Liz Hester, Linda Hull, Patsy King, Ronni Morgan, Beverly Spates and Sue Womble for their love and care during this past year.
