Albert W. McAlexander, 96, of Chattanooga, died on Monday, May 25, 2020, at his home surrounded by family.

 

Albert was born May 7, 1924, in Cedar Grove, Tennessee.

 

Albert served our country in the U.S. Army in WWII from June, 1943 to February, 1946. He was awarded with the Eame Theater Ribbon with 3 Bronze Stars, American Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and the Victory Medal.

 

Albert was a supervisor and head of Administrative Services for TVA. He initially designed the ambulances that TVA uses today.

 

Albert was a dog lover and enjoyed gardening. He enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, and watching sports with his son; he even took up snorkeling when his son started scuba diving.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Susie McAlexander; his wife, Margaret; 4 brothers; and 2 sisters.

 

Surviving are his son, Phillip (Tabatha) McAlexander; and his grandchildren, Jenna and Jacob.

A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Monday, June 1, 2020, at Hickory Valley Christian Church in Chattanooga. A private burial will take place at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

 

Memorial donations can be made to his church.

 

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 PM on Sunday, May 31, 2020, at Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road. An additional visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Monday, June 1. Visitation will follow CDC Guidelines with social distancing and face covering required.
