Alice Barringer Beck, 99 of East Ridge, died on Wednesday, January 29, 2020.
She was born in Suck Creek, TN, a small community on the banks of the Tennessee River. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Carrie Krause Barringer. Alice was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga and retired from the Tennessee Department of Employment Security as a Supervisor. She was a member of St. Martin’s Episcopal Church for over 40 years, where she served as Church Treasurer and the Altar Guild. She also served as a substitute organist at the church as well as playing the piano for over 30 years.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Donald G. Beck; son, Barry M. Snow and her brothers, Robert K Barringer and Edwin C. Barringer.
She is survived by her daughter, Shrimpy Lee; grandchildren, Bryan Duke, William (Kristy) Duke and Adam (Jessica) Lee; great-grandchildren, Kassie Duke, Kelsey Duke, Lee Barron and Eli Barron; sister in law, Jessie Barringer, several nieces and nephews and Pattee Wilbanks.
A Memorial service will be held at 2 PM Sunday, February 9, at St. Martin of Tours Episcopal Church, with Father Jim Wallace officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Martin of Tours Episcopal Church, 7547 East Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
