Ann J. (Fisher) Whittier, 88, of Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2020, at Hospice Care Center of Chattanooga.
She graduated from Knoxville Business College and was a secretary for Pittsburgh Plate Glass (PPG) and Bearden United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years, Basil Winthrop Whittier; and her grandson Tyler Whittier.
Ann is survived by her second husband, L.T. Simmons; sons, Mike (Emily) Whittier, Steve (Cathy) Whittier, and Bob Whittier; 5 grandchildren, Rachel (John) Burris, Amy (Jason) Ware, Spencer (Ali) Whittier, Carter (Megan) Whittier, and Maya Whittier, and great grandson Martin Burris.
Ann was an avid camper and enjoyed traveling, boating, and water skiing. She liked playing the organ, participating in many crafts, and surprising friends with practical jokes. She enjoyed singing in the church choir and Sweet Adelines.
A graveside service will take place at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2020, at Chattanooga National Cemetery. The family and invited guests will meet at the funeral home by 1:45 p.m. on Friday, July 10, to process to the cemetery. Face coverings and social distancing is required at the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made Tyner United Methodist Church, Chattanooga, Tennessee.
