Barbara Cabe (Boles) Cochran

Barbara Cathleen Boles Cochran, 83 of Chattanooga, TN, passed away Saturday, November 11, after a short illness.

Barbara was born January 23, 1934 in Chattanooga, TN, to the late John and Cathleen Boles. She attained honors while attending Chattanooga Junior Academy through the 10th grade, then graduated from Central High School, Class of 1951. Next she graduated from McKenzie Business College, was a secretary for several local businesses, then was 19 year executive secretary for Sister Thomas de Sales at Memorial Hospital, until her retirement.

Barbara was a talented seamstress, an excellent home cook and she played the piano and sang in the church choir. She celebrated her family and friends for babies, birthdays, special occasions and holidays, sharing her gift of love and nurturing to all who knew her. She loved her church family and was a faithful servant of the Lord. Barbara was an active member of Chattanooga 1st Seventh-day Adventist Church. She was church secretary for twenty years, as well as church clerk some of those same years. She had the distinction of, and was honored for, being church matriarch because of continuous attendance of over 80 years.

She was predeceased by her brother, John Larry Boles, husband and father of her four children Edwin Cabe, Sr. and husband Eugene Payne.

She is survived by her husband of nine years, Arnold Cochran, daughters Cathy Lewis (Kevin), Darlene Taylor (Gerald), Angie Holley, son Edwin Cabe Jr., six grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, step-son Steven Cochran, step-daughters Cheryl Pupenbroke and Christy Trimble, brother David Boles, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 7 PM on Tuesday, November 14 in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Fred Fuller officiating. Burial will be at Chattanooga National Cemetery on Wednesday, November 15 at 11 AM.
