Barbara Ellen (Shipley) Danielson

November 24, 1930 ~ February 5, 2020 (age 89)


Barbara Ellen Danielson, 89, died Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at NHC Parkwood in Chattanooga.

Born in Chattanooga on November 24, 1930, Barbara was the daughter of the late Floyd and Lily Mae Rice Shipley Sr.  She was a graduate of City High School in Chattanooga.

Barbara was a floral designer before retiring and also worked for the City of Chattanooga Police Department and at the “911” Center.  She enjoyed being with her family, spending time outside tending her flowers with her ever present canine companion Lady. Barbara enjoyed painting landscapes and loved to quilt, crochet prayer shawls for her church and scarves for the homeless.  

She was a member of the Tyner United Methodist Church.

Barbara was preceded in death by her brother Floyd Shipley Jr.

Survivors include her daughter, Donna (Bruce Lansford) Oster, Chattanooga; her son David Danielson, Chattanooga; grandchildren, Nathanael (Saar Gill) Oster, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Aaron (Sarah) Clark Oster, Chattanooga and great grandchild Everett Oster of Chattanooga.

Funeral services are Monday, February 10, 2020 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd, with Rev. George Clark officiating.  Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Chattanooga.
