Barbara Lynn Miller, a long-time resident of Chattanooga, died Sunday, November 5, 2023, after a brief stay in hospice care. She was 70.
Barbara was born on August 24, 1953, in Louisville, Kentucky to Earl Max Cantrell and Shirley June Love Cantrell.
She graduated from Bearden High School in Knoxville in 1970, and studied Nursing and Pyschology at UTC/UTK, earning a Masters in Psychology.
She worked at Tennessee Behavioral Health and did crisis intake at Joe Johnson Mental Health Moccasin Bend.
In her earlier years, Barbara was an accomplished runner, qualifying for the Boston Marathon several times. She was a voracious reader, a trait she shared with her late husband, Felix Grundy Miller. Barbara had great affection for animals, especially her dogs and cats.
Barbara is survived by her sister, Sarah Leah Kennedy, and her brothers, David Earl Cantrell and Paul Harvey Cantrell. She is also survived by two step-sons, Felix (Jenny) Miller and Andrew Miller, and four step-grandchildren, Reese Miller, Logan Miller, Leighton Miller and Sam Havron.
No public visitation or memorial service is planned at this time.
