Barbara Virginia Stanfield

Barbara Virginia Bryant Todd Stanfield, 95, of Apison, was received into the arms of her Savior on June 16, 2018.

She was born on August 18, 1922 in Chattanooga, TN. where she lived until moving with her family to Apison, TN. at the age of ten.

In her earlier years, Barbara enjoyed being a mom of four children and helping with the bookkeeping and payroll in the business that she and her first husband, Percy Todd, owned together. Following the death of her first husband, she met and married Al Stanfield who worked for Golf Digest and the couple much enjoyed traveling to golf courses throughout the United States.

Barbara was a faithful member and leader in the Apison United Methodist Church for many years. She held many offices through the years such as, Church Treasurer, UMW and Women’s Circle President; she served as a Sunday school teacher and was always faithful in the Prayer ministry of the church, even after becoming homebound.

In her later years, Barbara enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves and many other sports games. She especially enjoyed her time with family including cherished time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Levecha Poe Bryant and Carson H. Bryant; her first husband, Percy Todd; her second husband, Al Stanfield; her daughter, Betsy Todd Vines; and her son, Percy E. (Chip) Todd Jr.

Barbara is survived by Jim (Ann) Todd of Apison, TN., Trese Todd of Seattle, WA., Linda (David) Stanfield Pennebaker; grandchildren, Brad Vines, Meredith (Jon) Hall, Colin Todd, Leslie (Sean) Turner, Emily (Michael) Lamon, Ashley (Joey) Yates, Lindsey (Andy) Hagle; sister, Betty (Delbert) Davison, step-grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at the Apison United Methodist Church with interment to follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
