Betty Jean (Rogers) Passons

Betty Jean Rogers Passons, 92, of Ooltewah, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, in a local hospital.

Mrs. Passons was born in Indianapolis, IN and had lived in Chattanooga most of her life. She was a member of Woodland Park Baptist Church since she was a young girl, where she sang in the choir and was faithful in her service to the Lord. She was a member of the Gleaners Sunday School class for 73 years and most recently she was a member of the Agape Sunday School class.

She was a devoted wife for 57 years to her husband, William Erby Passons, Sr., and she was a loving mother and grandmother to her family. They will cherish the many memories they have with her. One of her greatest joys was helping someone in need. She often liked to give when others were unaware.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Erby Passons, Sr., her parents, John Clay and Lucille Rogers, her sister, Treva Guess, and also a great grandson, William Erby Passons, IV.

Survivors include two sons, Erby (Janice) Passons, Jr., Ooltewah, and Gary (Susan) Passons, M.D., Memphis; daughter, Lesa (Tom) Maupin, Franklin, TN.; brother, John Rogers, Ooltewah; aunt, Dorotha Bryan Igou, Chattanooga, and nine grandchildren, William (Dana) Passons, III, Kris (Becky) Passons, Brad (Samantha) Passons, Travis (Melissa) Passons, John (Jayne) Maupin, Taylor (Amy) Passons, Julie Maupin, Melanie Passons, Jeffrey (Mitzi) Maupin and sixteen great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 4 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jim Barclay officiating. A private burial will take place at Hamilton Memorial Gardens, where the grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 Saturday, January 16, at Heritage Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 7454 East Brainerd Road.
