Beverly Joyce (Lacy) McCowan

Beverly Joyce Lacy McCowan, 68, of Chattanooga departed this life on July 4, 2021.

Born April 15, 1953 as the eldest daughter of Ira and Mary Lacy, Beverly was a proud graduate of Riverside High School where she was named “Class Beauty” and was the Links Sweetheart.

She was employed with Parkridge Hospital for over 20 years before going into full time ministry with her husband.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ira Lacy, Sr.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving and devoted husband of 47 years, Dr. R. J. McCowan (affectionately known as Jay); her one and only child that she adored, Kilzma McCowan Brown; beloved granddaughters whom brought so much joy to her life, Reagyn and Lacye Brown; favorite son-in-law, Ivan Brown; mother, Mary Lacy;  brother, Ira (Landrese) Lacy, Nashville;  two sisters, Janice (Don) McKinney, Knoxville and Anita Lacy, Atlanta;  father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Mattie McCowan;  brothers-in -laws, Alvin (Christina) McCowan, Dr. Harold McCowan, Richard (Patricia) McCowan, Perry McCowan, James (Anna) Arnwine;  sister-in-law, Beverly (Rick) Campbell; a host of nieces and nephews and special friends.

Pastor Beverly had a special love in her heart for her beloved Pneuma Church Family.  She would remind them weekly by closing every service with “Love Y’all”.

Her one on one personal ministry impacted so many in her congregation.  One of her favorite quotes was “Stay Open”.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday July 10th at 12 noon at Pneuma Church, 7345 Old Cleveland Pike, Chattanooga, TN  37421,
