Billy "BJ" Joe Smith Jr.

Billy Joe Smith, 64, passed away on June 18, 2020.

BJ was a charismatic person that enjoyed socializing and going out to eat with people. He loved working on cars, Clemson football, and singing at weddings, funerals, and karaoke. He helped build the Venue Church in Chattanooga and served as the Care Pastor for many years.

He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Joe Smith Sr.; brother, Douglas Hubbard; and grandmother, Hazel Moore.

He is survived by his mother, Iris (Charles) Terrell; son, Tavner (Danielle) Smith; sisters, Kim (Ira) Templeton, Tonya (Mike) Vandergriff, and Jordan (Joe) Holder;  step-brothers, Jeff (Kristi) Terrell, Mike (Cheryl) Terrell, Joe Terrell; grandchildren, Averi, Emeri, and Presli Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 12 PM on Saturday, June 27 at Venue Church on Lee Hwy. with Tavner Smith officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10-12 PM. Burial will follow the service at Hamilton Memorial Gardens in Hixson, TN.
