Tribute

The life of Carol Ann Nunn Corrington ended on June 1st, 2022 at the age of 78, but her kindness and willingness to share what she had and help when she could made a difference to anyone who had the good fortune of knowing her.  She was born on March 12th, 1944 in Louisville, Kentucky and spent her formative years in the Horse Cave, Kentucky area.  She moved to Foley, Alabama in her early teenage years and graduated from Robertsdale High School in 1961.

Dreams of being a nurse gave way to the reality of raising two children, but she never lost sight of the importance of earning an education, as she attended night school at Spring Hill College while working at First Alabama Bank and Railway Tie Association, finally earning her bachelor’s degree in May 1992.  Her employment at Hughes Aircraft in 1980 resulted in her meeting her future husband and the love of her life, Roger Corrington.

Her desire to serve and make others’ lives better was a common thread in both her professional and personal life, as she served on the vestry at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Foley, Alabama, and was the first lead administrative assistant at Live Oak Assisted Living when it opened in 1995.  She retired from Live Oak in 2005 and moved to Signal Mountain, Tennessee in 2007.  Her later years were devoted to dog rescue, and countless older dogs were given their first loving home.

Hers was not an easy life, yet this did not keep her from seeing the good in people and persevering through adversity.  She was a living embodiment of the statement “When you’re going through hell, keep going.”

Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roger Corrington, older brother Donald Nunn and parents Carlos and Beulah Kathleen Nunn.

Carol is survived by two grateful children, Suzanne Corrington (Bud Hays) of Chattanooga and William (Will) Corrington of Missouri City, Texas, a niece, Donna Nunn Flannery (Brent), sister-in-law Helen Nunn of Longview, and many other relatives and friends.

An interment service will be held in November at Pine Rest Funeral Home in Foley.  In lieu of flowers and in acknowledgement of her love of animals, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Best Friends Animal Society at www.bestfriends.org.
