Carolyn “Faye” Turner, of Chattanooga, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2019 at Hickory Valley Retirement Home. She was 87 years old.
Faye was born on March 11, 1932 in Alpharetta, Georgia to Roy Jackson Dempsey and Jewell Martin Dempsey.
She was a 1949 graduate of North Fulton High School and moved to Chattanooga in 1962.
Faye was a devoted member of Tyner United Methodist Church for many years. She was active in the Valmont Women’s Club and numerous Bridge Clubs in the area. Faye was a city bowling champion, an avid golfer and traveler, and an accomplished gardener. She always maintained a full social calendar and was a dear friend to many.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Jack N. Lane and Pelham Turner; and stepson, Robert Turner.
Faye is survived by a sister, Pat Dempsey Duggan (Ben) of Hendersonville, TN; daughter, Vicki Lane Hill (Steve), son, Greg Lane (Millie), step-children, Linda Coulter (Frank), Sue Turner, Bill Turner (Delores); grandchildren, Katy Hill Harmon, Carrie Hill, Whitney Lane Hines, Tyler Lane, numerous nieces and nephews and several beloved great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Dr. Terry Melvin, Hospice Nurse Kathy Higgins, Kindred Hospice, primary caregivers, Madison, Misty, and Jessica, Comprehensive Care, and the wonderful staff at Hickory Valley Retirement Center.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, August 8, 2019 in the funeral home chapel with Chaplain Ted Smith officiating. There will be NO graveside service.
Memorial contributions may be made in Faye’s name to a local charity of choice.
