Cecil Bateman

Cecil Bateman, 91 of Chattanooga passed from this life into the presence of Jesus on June 8.

 He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 69 years, Inez Bateman.

Born in Nantahala, North Carolina, Cecil was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He served during the Second World War. He received his undergraduate and Masters of Divinity from Tennessee Temple University and Seminary, graduating Magna Cum Laude. He pastored small churches and taught in several private Christian schools. He enjoyed working on cars and tending his garden.

Survived by daughters, Jeanie Hammond (Jim), Barbara Donham (Richard), Debra Kuhn (Joel), grandfather of 15 and great grandfather of 42, one great-great grandson.

Cecil considered himself a blessed man. He was a serious lifelong student of the scriptures and loved teaching others the Word of God.

A funeral services will be held at 3 PM on Saturday, June 16 at Briar Town Baptist Church, Nantahala, North Carolina. The family will receive friend prior to the service from 1-3 PM.
