Charles Ray Waldon, Sr.,90, passed away Friday, June 4, 2021 in a local hospital.
Born May 26, 1931 to the late William H. and Ollie Mae Waldon, Charles spent many years living in Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia area before moving to Miami, FL in the early 1950’s later moving to The Redlands, FL where he made his home for over 50 years.
He spent his summers on Lookout Mountain enjoying family, friends and fishing
He retired as a firefighter from the City of Coral Gables, FL. A man of many trades; a painter, farmer, gardener and an all around handyman.
Charles was a man of many hats; not just a fire helmet- A man loved by all (The Original MacGyver).
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Charles Ray Waldon, Jr; two brothers, William E. Waldon and Richard Waldon; and sister, Rosa O. Waldon.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Peggy “Chick” Waldon; four daughters, Glenda Waldon, Sandra (Bruce) Dunn, Georgia Inez (Allen) Howard, and Carla (John) Alger; sister, Evelyn Gray; brother, Sam (Dorothy) Waldon; an abundance of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, June 5th at 5 :30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Gary Smith officiating with a visitation from 5 pm until 5:30 pm.
Mr. Waldon will be taken to Woodlawn Cemetery, Naranja, Florida for graveside services and burial.
