Clarence Donaldson (Jr.) Hilliard

Clarence Donaldson Hilliard, Jr., age 90, departed this life on July 15, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.

A devout Christian, C.D.'s faith in God was the most important part of his life and was evident to all who knew him. He was devoted to his entire family and especially his beloved wife of 66 years, Jerri. C.D. served honorably in the US Air Force and retired from the DuPont Company in 1990 after 41 years of service. He was a 1949 graduate of Central High School and attended UTC and Chattanooga State. He was a current member of Covenant Presbyterian Church PCA and prior to that, a member of Wesley Memorial UMC for 54 years.

He deeply loved his God, Bible study, his family, and his friends. He enjoyed growing roses to share with others and going golfing with friends. He and Jerri were avid travellers having been to all 50 United States and 60 countries abroad, often with dear friends Jim and Betty Westbrooks.

He was predeceased by his parents Clarence Donaldson Hilliard, Sr, and Anna Beatrice Smith Hilliard and six brothers and six sisters: William (Ruby) Hilliard, Joseph (Evelyn) Hilliard, Oscar (Ann) Hilliard, David (Sarah) Hilliard, James (Joyce) Hiiliard, Richard Hilliard, Anna Laura (James) Harding, Geraldine (David) Von Schaaf, Elizabeth (John) Tipton, Doris (Norman) Mansfield, Betty (Bud) Bailey, and Jeanette (Eugene) Fults.

C.D. is survived by his wife Roxie Jeroline "Jerri" Gilbreath Hilliard, daughter Amy Elise Hilliard, son Lansing "Lan" Kent (Ann) Hilliard, granddaughters Erica Mayforth and Stephanie (Christopher) Monteleone, grandson Adam (Jessica) Hilliard, great granddaughter Brynlee Thomas, great grandson Jack Monteleone, sister-in-law Wilma Ramey, and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

The family would like to express appreciation to all who offered prayers and many other acts of kindness during this time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Diaconate Fund of Covenant Presbyterian Church PCA.

A funeral service will be held at 12 PM on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Covenant Presbyterian Church with Rev. Eric Mullinax officiating. Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
