Claudette Hefner, 72, of Dalton, GA, died on Sunday, May 3, 2020, in Chattanooga.
She was born on July 28, 1947, in Dalton, to Claude and Inez (Hill) Self. Claudette is preceded in death by her parents, and her beloved husband, Wayne Hefner.
She is survived by her daughter Michelle Chavda (spouse of Hitesh Chavda) and twin grandchildren, Cohen and Asha; a sister, Carolyn Rollins; a brother, Terry Self (Brenda); and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Claudette was known for her love of reading and crossword puzzles, spirited debates with her husband and her ability to find humor in most situations. She enjoyed a long career and welcomed the uninterrupted family time that vacation offered.
A notable vacation highlight that she loved to chuckle about was of Wayne soaking up the sun on a sandbar in a hat and sunglasses, and perfumed with Coppertone. Then a wave knocked him out of his beach chair and he was transformed into a water-logged grandpa that smelled of salt-water and seaweed.
She had a deep love of and commitment to family and enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and peers. Claudette also just sensed when someone needed a friend, a supporter or encouragement and she selflessly gave her time to others. She was actively involved in Sumach Cumberland Presbyterian Church for many years, serving as an Elder and a Sunday School teacher.
Claudette will be missed but will forever be remembered with love.
