David L Shinn

 David L. Shinn, 80, of Chattanooga, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2018 surrounded by his family, succumbed to Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. 

The loving husband of Barbara for 56 years; brother of Stephen; father of Lee Ann Pack (John), David, Jr (Kim) and Debra Rivera (Angel); grandfather of Meagan, Levi, Elijah Pack, Maria Rivera, Mateo Rivera and Marisol Rivera.  The friend of too many to count and will be well-remembered.

In 1956 David proudly became a tin can sailor while serving his country with the U.S. Navy.  He loved his Lord as a Seventh Day Adventist for over 50 years and was a member of the Chattanooga First Seventh Day Adventist Church. 

David served the Lord as a literature evangelist for many years and retired from the insurance industry.  He was proud of his West Virginia roots, his beloved Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers and Penguins.  David “was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith, and many people were brought to the Lord.”

A graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 in the Chattanooga National Cemetery, 1200 Bailey Ave.
