Dixie (Forester) Saeger

Dixie Forester Saeger, 78 of Chattanooga, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2019. 

She was a graduate of Chattanooga City High School.  Dixie received her B.S. from Tennessee Technical University and her M.S. from The University of Tennessee at Knoxville.  She was a Registered/Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist and member of the local, state and national Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.  Dixie held numerous offices in the local and state organizations.  Her work history includes Adjunct Faculty at both UTC and UTK, Clinical Dietitian at Memorial Hospital, Director of Nutrition at Parkwood Health Care Center.  Dixie also served as a consultant with Adventa Hospice, Hospice of Chattanooga and the Tennessee Division of Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities.   She was a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Fred Forester and Thelma Phillips Forester and her brother-in-law, Floyd Keith.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Henry “Hank” Saeger; son, Jeffrey (Barbara Lewis) Saeger; sisters, Gayle Forester Keith of Roanoke, VA and Joy Forester (James B.) Leport of Chattanooga.  

A graveside service will be held at 11 AM Monday, March 25, at the Chattanooga national Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank Hospice of Chattanooga for their loving care shown to the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Chattanooga Area Food Bank or to New Hope Presbyterian Church.
