Dorothy Young Campbell

Dorothy Young Campbell, 89, went home to be with the Lord on July 15, 2017 in a local hospital.
She was born in Chattanooga, the only child of the late Lloyd and Cleo McBrayer Young and had resided in both Chattanooga and Atlanta.
She was a 1946 graduate of Central High School where she was the Class of ‘46 Torchbearer.
She committed her life to Christ as an adolescent and has served the Lord her entire life. As a teen she played piano for a local gospel quartet and a weekly gospel radio program.
She was a member of Brainerd Hills Baptist Church where she served in the choir, on the Finance Committee and was a long-time member of the Lighthouse Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Lloyd C. Campbell, with whom she worked in the juvenile furniture business throughout her marriage. She and her husband were the founders and owners of Children’s Fair Infant and Youth Store for over 25 years.
She is survived by son, L.C. (Gail) Campbell Jr., Stuart, FL; daughter, Pamela (Ross) Andrews, Ringgold, GA; four grandchildren, Lori Baker, Casi (Norm) Brush all of Stuart, FL, Josh (Lacey) Andrews, Avondale Estates, GA and Paige Andrews (Michael) Lee, Honolulu, Hawaii; 8 great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Reese Baker, Jake and Lyla Brush, Hattie and Oliver Andrews, Anna and Ben Lee; 3 sisters-in-law, Jean Hankins, Ooltewah, TN, Barbara (Bill) Crawford, Jacksonville, FL and Carol (Eddie) Sizemore, Ft.Oglethorpe, GA.
Services will be held Monday, July 31 at 12:30 pm in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Richard Mason, Dr. Charles Hyder and Chaplain L.C. Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Lighthouse Sunday School Class of Brainerd Hills Baptist Church.
The family wishes to thank the staff of The Lantern at Morning Pointe, Chattanooga for their kind, diligent care of our beloved mother and grandmother.
