Douglas Glenn Bedingfield

Douglas Glenn Bedingfield, known by many names including “Pop”, “Mr. B”, and “Grandaddy”, passed at the age of 85 years old on August 2, 2021.

Pop was an employee of Delta for 43 years and a member of Grace Bible Church, where he served in multiple ministries for over 50 years. There are very few memories of “Grandaddy” that do not include his big contagious smile, or his warm loving hugs. During his battle with dementia much changed, but one constant remained and that was Doug’s love for his Lord and Savior and for his wife. His favorite pastime was singing gospel music, usually his favorite song “I’ll fly away”, that he continued singing even on his last days.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father Glennys and Verdie Bedingfield, his brothers Ronald (Linda) and Bill (Nga), two Sisters Sherry Pirtle and Phyllis Bedingfield, his son Greg Bedingfield and daughter-in-law Martha Bedingfield.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Gloria Bedingfield, sons Roger Bedingfield, Michael Bedingfield, Scott (Angie) Bevil and daughter Tami (Mike) Brown. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandsons, and several nieces and nephews.

Gloria and the family would like to thank the Hospice of Carrollton, Georgia and Lauren Glen (Cottage Landing), especially Lisa Jackson, for loving and taking care of Doug.

A memorial service will be held Friday, August 6th at 2 PM at Grace Bible Church, 3827 Hixson Pike, Chattanooga, 37415.
