Tribute

Edson Andrew Knight, Sr., 74, of Youngstown, OH, died on Saturday, June 19, 2021.

Born December 1, 1946 in Takoma Park, MD, Edson, also known by family and friends as Ed, Eddie, Grandpa, Grampie, and many more throughout his life. His Master's degrees in Rehabilitation Counseling and Divinity paired well with his personality as a selfless individual who cared deeply for every person he ever met. Serving as a pastor for Seventh-Day Adventist early in his career and as a counselor for the State of Ohio later, he helped countless lives in both his professional and personal life.

A connoisseur of "slightly burnt baked goods" and a master of putting on a "word of twist," Edson was always quick with a pun, contagious with a laugh, and kind to all. A lover of travel, nature, and animals, Edson spread his joy to everyone and everything he touched, taking only memories with him through his joy of photography. While not tinkering on a project or sneaking pie crumbs off a plate, you could find Edson sharing his "worldly wisdom" of British comedies that matched his unique sense of humor. From playing games with grandchildren to a rousing round of Rook with family and friends. Joy followed everywhere and to everyone Edson touched, and it will continue to follow us all through our memories we keep of him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Charles and Viola Gertrude (Salsgiver) Knight; and his brother, James Knight.

Edson is survived by his children, Liesl (Knight) Dobozy and her husband Christopher, and E. Andrew Knight, Jr. and his wife Marsi; five grandchildren, Cheyanne and Carson Dobozy, Carter, Cole and Brooklyn Knight; one sister, Karen (Knight) Caldwell; three nieces, Angelika Sorrow, Aimee Mushik, and Jamie Wiseman; one sister-in-law, Elly Knight Herber; and his former wife, Carol Ann Schneider.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Mill Creek MetroParks Foundation, 7574 Columbiana Canfield Rd., Canfield, OH 44406.
