Edwin Frank Lane, 87, of Chattanooga went to be with the Lord on December 26, 2018.
Born in Gage County, NE, Ed was a graduate of the University of Nebraska where he was a member of the wrestling team and placed second in the conference his senior year. He loved his “Cornhuskers”.
He was a proud veteran of the US Air Force serving as 1st Lt.
Ed was married for 63 years to the love of his life, Shirley Kendle Lane who preceded him in death in 2016. He looked forward to the day he would see her again with his Lord and Savior in Heaven. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Dorine Renner.
Ed was very athletic and in addition to wrestling he enjoyed water skiing and snow skiing.
He loved the Lord and was a member of Hickory Valley Christian Church, who continued to serve and minister to Ed when he was unable to attend. He retired after 31 years of service with Honeywell in the Labor Relations Dept.
Ed battled bone cancer and won for four years and exemplified great strength during some difficult times. He was an inspiration to his family and many others.
Survivors are his sons, Daniel Robert (Mary) Lane, Maryville, TN, and William Scot (Laura) Lane, Chattanooga; grandchildren, Sarah Lane (Scott) Paone, Holly Lane, and Abby (Sam) Carmichael; great-grandson, Elijah Paone.
Services will be held Sunday, December 30th at 6 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Gary Armes and Dr. David Eubanks officiating. Graveside service will be held on Monday at 12:30 p.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff of The Bridge at Ooltewah and Hospice of Chattanooga who showed great love and compassion to Ed. Also a special thanks to Dr. Davey Daniel, Amy Ottman and the staff of Tennessee Oncology for their kindness, compassion and all they did to give the family more time with him.
