Tribute

Chattanooga, Eleonore Gisela Cobbe, 81 passed away on June, 3 2020.

Elly was born in St. Ingbert, Germany and immigrated to the United States on her own initiative in 1961 to fulfill a childhood dream ever since the American occupation in WWII. Elly came to Los Angeles CA where she met her Husband, Alan. They ran an Insurance Business insuring many of the Major Movies of the time and met many of the Movie Stars of the days. The two of them enjoyed playing tennis and golf and traveling worldwide. After 37 years in Los Angeles, they retired to Palm Desert, CA. After Alan’s death, Elly moved to Chattanooga in 2003 for a change of scenery.

She became a very active and faithful member of Christ United Methodist Church in many of their ministries, especially arriving every Sunday Morning at 7:00AM to make and serve coffee to the attendees. She also helped with the Wednesday night meals.

Elly enjoyed playing tennis at the Racquet Club in Hixson, TN. She traveled extensively to tournaments around the Tri-State Area with this group of friends.

She was active in Dinner Book Club and Newcomers activities making friends and associations with many ladies in the area.

Elly was a member of Scenic City Friends where she traveled and enjoyed fellowship with all the members. She loved to socialize with her friends at StoneBrook, especially with the Patio Pals. Her passion was being part of the Social Committee planning functions and activities.

Left behind to cherish Elly’s memories are her Dear Friends Becky and Howard Conway and Red and Doug Dueker, her many friends at Scenic City Friends, Stonebrook and Christ United Methodist Church. She also leaves behind an extensive loving family in Germany.

There will be a celebration of life at Christ United Methodist Church on the corner of Morris Hill and East Brainerd at an appropriate time this year officiated by Minister David Hall followed by a reception.

In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to Christ United Methodist Church www.christchurchchatt.org
