Frank R. Duff

Frank R. Duff of Ooltewah, died June 1, 2023 after a lingering illness. Frank was born April 25, 1929 in Jamestown, Cherokee County, Alabama. He was the son of Chris Duff and Mamie Powell Duff.

He was in the military during the Korean War. However, he served in Germany. He was a Staff Sgt. After his discharge he moved to Chattanooga where he and his brother ran a small grocery store in Red Bank. He also worked at Red Food Store and Cramet Titanium plant. After the titanium plant closed he was employed by Interstate Life Insurance, which merged with Gulf Life Insurance. This company later merged with American General Insurance Co. When he retired in 1991 he had worked for this company more than thirty years. After retirement he owned residential property which he managed.

He was married to Dorothy Smith Duff for 66 years. They have two children-David R. Duff of Greensboro, NC and his children-Bryan Duff, Charleston, SC and Ellen Duff, Detroit, Michigan. Linda Duff Schock and her husband, Mark, and their son, Barrett Schock, Chattanooga. Frank was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Chattanooga.

He is also survived by his sister, Mary Dean Hixon, Fort Payne, Alabama, and many nieces and nephews. He has three deceased siblings: Hoyt Duff, Chattanooga; Gartrelle Duff, Trion, GA. and Ralph Duff, Jamestown, Alabama.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, June 4, 2023, at 2:00 P.M., Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Chapel. Interment will be held Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at 10:30 A.M., Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Sunday from noon until the service hour at Heritage Funeral Home.
