Gayle Love (Walton) Chappell

Gayle Love Walton Chappell, 76, of Chattanooga, Tennessee passed away, Thursday, September 7, 2023 at her residence. A native of Fairfield, Alabama, she has lived in the Chattanooga area for the past five years and was previously of Jacksonville, Florida. Gayle was of the Christian faith, was a Graduate of Jacksonville State where she graduated with her Bachelor’s degree. She was the first woman to have passed the CPA board exams that graduated from Jacksonville State. She was a former employee of the IRS where she was a manager. Gayle was also an avid Auburn Tigers Football fan.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Howell Chappell Jr.; and parents, Robert B. and Jessie E. Love Walton. She is survived by her son, Ralph “Rusty” Chappell III of Jacksonville, FL., two sisters, Jane (Neil) Ferguson, and Lois (Kenneth) Johnson; her dog and companion, JoJo, and caregiver, Diana Clark.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 P.M. Tuesday September 12, 2023 in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Tony Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends 11AM- 12 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
