George K. Ebel Sr.

George K. Ebel Sr., age 75, of Chattanooga, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2021, surrounded by family.

He was a devoted husband to his wife, Nancy (Breeden) Ebel for 43 years. Born in New York City, NY on July 17, 1945, he was a son of the late, Gloria and Kenneth Ebel. He was raised in Cedarhurst, NY and was a graduate of Lawrence High School Class of 1964. After high school, he attended Memphis State University on a football scholarship. He then entered the US Army where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. Following his enlistment in the US Army, Mr. Ebel had worked for most of his life as a health physics technician for Tennessee Valley Authority. George loved to play golf, spend time with family and adored his grandchildren. He never missed a good opportunity for a joke or to play a prank on someone.

Mr. Ebel was predeceased by his parents, Gloria Ebel and Kenneth Ebel; brothers, Kenneth Ebel Jr. and David Ebel.

Survivors include his loving wife, Nancy Ebel; son, George (Melissa) Ebel; brothers, Robert (Michael) Ebel, Gary Ebel; nephews, Junior (Candy) Breeden, Michael Tyler Ebel; and grandchildren, Gehrig Ebel and Maris Ebel.

A celebration of life service will be held when conditions allow George’s many friends to gather and tell funny stories and let him be the center of attention one last time.
