Harold (Buddy) McDaniel, 89, of Harrison passed away Thursday, July 5, 2018 at his home.
A lifelong resident of Harrison born to the late James and Belle Miller McDaniel, Buddy grew up under the ministry of Rev. Frank Frantz at Harrison Baptist Church. He later was instrumental in building the Faith Baptist Church on Hickory Valley Road which began in the home of his late sister, Cherrie Reese. In the early 1940’s, Buddy and Cherrie would sing Gospel music on the radio.
In 1950 Buddy entered the Army and served his country during the Korean War.
He returned home and retired after 16 years of service with Lucey Boiler Co. as a boilermaker. He was a member of the American Legion Post #95. In his later years he attended Morris Hill Baptist Church.
He was an avid music lover having played the guitar and was quite the dancer on the dance floor.
Buddy was a friend to everyone that knew him and he lived his life to the fullest.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, C.L. McDaniel, sisters, Elizabeth Cline, Frances Myers, Minnie Lee Robinson and Cherrie Reese.
He will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather to his family who will always love and miss him.
He is survived by his daughter, Wanda (George) Davis; granddaughter, Donnis (Rob) Wells; two great-grandchildren, Emily and Davis Wells all of Ooltewah; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. at the Old McDonald Cemetery on SnowHill Road with Ken Pitts officiating. Pallbearers will he Butch Reese, Shawn Reese, Jerry Robinson, Jimmy Gillooley, Butch Brown and Rob Wells.
