Iva (Keown) Rose

Iva Lee Keown Rose, age 88, transitioned into her heavenly home on March 10,2019.  She was the third of four children born to Leonard Leander Keown and Dema Eugenia Bridges Keown.

She was the devoted wife of Augustus Bryan Rose, who preceded her in death. She and Bryan met in high school and married in 1951 soon after both had graduated.  As a long time member of Brainerd United Methodist Church, she was one of the teachers of the Friendship Class. She enjoyed learning about God’s word and sharing it with others.  Her hobbies included counted cross-stitch and reading. Almost any season of the year could find her and Bryan traveling the Blue Ridge Parkway where they both enjoyed the sights, and sounds of nature.

She is preceded in death by her siblings and their spouses: Faye K. Tanner (Earl), Thelma K. Quinton (Alfred), and Robert T. Keown (Sylvia)

Surviving family members are her children: Joyce Rose Buffat of Chattanooga, TN and David Bryan (Mary Ann) Rose of N. Augusta, SC; grand-children,  John Rodney (Melissa) Hunt of Ooltewah, TN, David Bryan Rose II of N. Augusta, SC. and Kevin Ryan (Jackie) Rose of Billings, MT; great-grandchildren, Avery Mitchell Rose and Thomas Lee Hunt. Also left to cherish her memory are her step-grandchildren, Carrie (Hunter) Brimi, Josh (Meghan) Buffat, Emily Buffat-Jones (Shannon) and Jordan Buffat.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Thursday, March 14, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Matt Rickman officiating.  Burial will follow in Chattanooga Memorial Park.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Pavilion at Manorhouse Assisted Living for their exceptional care of our Mother during the 3-1/2 years that she lived there. We have witnessed their love and compassion many times. Hospice of Chattanooga has also been with her during the last 2-1/2 years. These are all exceptional people doing difficult work.  Our final thanks goes to Brooke Ross of ElderNav who has walked every step of this journey with us. An Angel on earth indeed.
