James David Byrd Jr.

James David Byrd Jr., 93, of East Brainerd passed away June 30, 2018 in a local healthcare center.

A native of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, Mr. Byrd was a proud graduate of the University of North Carolina.

He was a retired Electrical Engineer from Raytheon Co. after many years of service.

Mr. Byrd served in the US Navy during WWII and was a longtime member of the Brainerd Masonic Lodge #736 F&AM.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James David Byrd Sr. and Lillian Lucille Steger Byrd;  his son, James David Byrd III; and his brother, Richard Edward Byrd.

Mr. Byrd is survived by his wife of 50 years, Francese Winifred Byrd;  two sons, Stephen Patrick Byrd Henshaw and Christopher Alan Byrd; step-children, George Shuman and Kimberly Shuman.

There will be no services at this time however Mr. Byrd’s remains will be placed at the Chattanooga National Cemetery at a future date.
