James Maurice Howard

James M. Howard “Jim”, resident of Dunlap, TN, formerly of Chattanooga, passed away on November 24, 2018, at the age of 70.  He was at his home surrounded by his family. 

Jim was born in San Antonio, TX, but primarily grew up on Signal Mountain, TN.  A graduate of Chattanooga High School and UTC, he served his country through both active duty military service and through the Army reserves.  After more than 25 years of service, he retired as a Lt. Colonel in the Army.  As a civilian, he enjoyed a lengthy and successful career in sales that eventually led to him opening his own metal sales company in 1995. 

Jim was an avid golfer, historian, and traveler.  He loved visiting with his friends and family and had a wicked sense of humor.  He had a wonderful gift of storytelling and never met a stranger. 

He was predeceased by his parents, James and Alta Howard and his sister, Pam Norris.   

He is survived and will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 32 years, Linda; children, Jenny (Scott) Woods, Travis, and Les (Sarah); grandchildren, Taylor, Sarah, Alex, Jack, and fondly remembered by numerous lifelong friends. 

A funeral service will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, November 28 in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
