There are people in your life that you never forget. Retired Captain Jere Starnes was one of these people. He always had a kind word, a jolly laugh, a love for the Tennessee Highway Patrol and a tender heart. Captain Starnes went home to Heaven today, where he will wait on his beloved Ms. Jackie. Say a prayer that Ms. Jackie and his precious family get through the next few days feeling blessed that he was so dear to them. RIP Captain Jere Starnes.

We are so sorry to hear of your loss. Such a wonderful man. We used to live across the street, and never failed to get a smile, a wave, and a "how are y'all?" From both Mr. And Mrs. Starnes. You both were such wonderful neighbors .Heaven gained another angel. Mr. Starnes will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. To Robbie and Gary....I think your dad was the proudest man on earth of all of the accomplishments you both have achieved. May you all have peace and comfort, and remember all the great memories.

My condolences to the Starnes family. I worked in the Chatt. office with Jere from 72-82. He was the Safety Education Lt. when I became Colonel in 1985. He really enjoyed what he was doing and did a good job. Sorry he did not get to enjoy retirement as much as he & Jackie would have liked. Thoughts and prayers to your family. What a wonderful man and friend he was to my parents. He was a childhood friend of my fathers. He always took the time to check on my father when he was sick...and continued to check on my mom once my father passed away. Heaven gained a precious soul.

My sincere condolences to the family. Mr Starnes was my first memory of law enforcement as a child. He was bigger than life with a great amount of respect.

I was sorry to hear about Jere. I first met him in January 1975 when I transferred from the Highway Patrols Tactical Squad in Nashville to the Chattanooga District Office. He was a Sgt. at the time. I have good memories of times we spent working together. After he retired and I would visit him at his home he would let you know that he was glad you came by to see him. May God comfort the hearts of all his family as only he can at times like this.

Jere, I will miss our crazy conversations. Go rest in peace ole trooper! Miss Jackie,
I am so sorry for your loss. My sincere condolences to you, the boys and your family. Christina, I am Trey's mom. He has spoken so often how good a friend you are. Your Grandpa has been a good friend since I worked in driver license when Trey was about three years old. He was a cut-up with all us girls in the office. We kept up when I left and went to other jobs. He was always the same. He called me to tell I had better remember to vote for his boy, and then get down in that low 'you know I sure will appreciate it' there buddy. I knew he'd sit there the whole day on that phone.
And, he called me when Robby got promoted. I was waiting on that one. Bless his heart. I will miss his calls. I know you will too. He was a good grandpa. I'm so sorry for your loss Sweetie, I know you'll take care of Grandmother Jackie.
