John "J.C." Calvin Carter Jr.

John Calvin (J.C.) Carter, age 99 left this earthly life on September 14, 2021, surrounded by his loving family and went home to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ.

He served 65 years with Amos and Andy Buick Company (which was later Trotter Buick) before retiring.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite, of 73 years, his parents Calvin and Viola Carter, and a sister, Louise Rutledge.

He was a long time member of Brainerd Methodist Church.

He served his country in World War II in the United States Army where he was in the Battle of the Bulge and the Invasion at Normandy Beach. He was awarded 5 stars while serving his country. He is a member of The American Legion Post 95.

He will always be remembered as being committed to his family, a loving husband, a dedicated worker and provider, and a caring father, grandfather, great grandfather and a great great grandfather. He had an infectious smile, with a gentle and gracious Southern spirit. He was a man of commitment, patience, tolerance and love from which his family greatly benefited.

Left behind to cherish his memories are a daughter, Joyce Burroughs; a granddaughter, Jan Quinn; 3 great grandaughters, Emily Bates (Ethan); Margaret Quinn, Sarah Johnson (Gage) ; 2 great great grandchildren, Quinn and Emmett Bates.

His family would like to give a special thanks to Hearth Hospice, David King, Jackie Conway, LaDainta Chambliss, Jackie Minor, Wanda Brock, Marcella Edge and the sitters she provided.

A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Monday September 20 at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
