Joyce Marie McPherson

Joyce Marie McPherson, 63, of Collegedale, peacefully passed away Friday, October 4, 2019 at home with family by her side.

She was born September 11, 1956 in Orlando, Florida to James McPherson III and Edith (Taladay) McPherson, the youngest of 3 children.

Joyce graduated from Collegedale Academy in 1975.

Having never married, Joyce claimed as “her kids” several nieces, nephews, and others from the families for whom she kept house and served as nanny. Before illness forced her to retire, she was working for 3^rd and 4^th generations of the same family who first employed her decades earlier.

Joyce’s faith in God was very important to her; she was a member of the Standifer Gap Seventh-Day Adventist Church for more than 50 years.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and her nephew, Michael McPherson.

She will be deeply missed by her brother Jim (Sally) McPherson; sister, Janice (Gary) Edgmon; stepmother, Jackie McPherson; step-sister, Tonya (Eric) Dunn; step-brother, Chuck (Zinda) Gentry; several nieces and nephews; step-aunt/friend, Sharon Coulter; her special Towe family, and a host of other family members and friends.

All who knew Joyce will remember her quick laugh, goofiness, and her sense of humor.

There will be a private graveside service, time to be determined.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research hospital (StJude.org) or to the Standifer Gap SDA Elementary School’s worthy student fund.
