Tribute

Kenneth Paul Martin, 66, of Signal Mountain, passed away on November, 14, 2020 in Dunlap, TN.

Kenneth “Kenny” Martin was born in Chattanooga, TN to the late John Fred and Francis Martin on October 9, 1954. He went to school at Notre Dame High School.  He married the love of his life, Dana Doyal, on November 24, 1979 in Chattanooga. Kenny and Dana had three boys; Jacob Paul, Christopher John and Patrick Aaron.

Kenny attended college at the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in engineering. While starting his family and building their house, he returned to school and earned a Master of Science in Engineering Management from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He spent thirty years working in the medical field as a hospital administrator. As a young man, he worked for Hamilton County Nursing Home. He and Dana then moved to Knoxville where he worked for St. Mary’s Medical Center. After ten years in Knoxville, he moved his family back to Chattanooga where he worked at Comprehensive Medical Care and then Hutcheson Medical Center in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia.

Kenny always loved working with his hands, and after retiring from healthcare, he spent the rest of his life working as a general contractor, building and renovating homes with his sons Chris and Patrick. He was a brilliant man with an unwavering work ethic and was loved by all who knew him. His true passion and legacy was loving his devoted wife and teaching his sons how to be good men. Kenny will be greatly missed, but the mark he made on his loved ones will always be remembered.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Myrtle Martin.

He is survived by his loving wife, Dana; sons, Jacob, Christopher, and Patrick; brothers, Bruce and Richard; and grandchildren, Olivia, Matthew, Landon and Samantha.
