Larry Dallas Clark

Larry Dallas Clark, 74, of Ooltewah, TN, died peacefully at home Sept. 12, 2020.

He was born in Spring City, TN and attended Spring City high school where he met the love of his life, Karon Collins. They married two days before graduation. Larry and his bride moved to Murfreesboro, where he graduated from MTSU with a bachelor’s degree in health, recreation and supervision. Their next move was to Vonore, TN where he taught eighth grade, coached basketball and football. Finally, Larry earned his master’s in administration from Tennessee Tech.

In 1973, Larry and his family moved to Ooltewah where he taught health and math. He was the school’s only health teacher from 1973-1985, which meant Larry instructed every student for more than a decade. While at Ooltewah he also coached ninth grade basketball and high school football.

Larry was a lifelong avid golfer and played league pool for more than 20 years. More than all these, he loved watching Tennessee football. Go Vols.

He is preceded in death by his parents Edgar and Celia Clark of Spring City, his brother Joe and sister Joyce.

He is survived by Karon, his loving wife of 55 years, daughter Heidie, son Heath and grandchildren Hannah and Maggie. He is also survived by his brothers Boyd, Harley, and Kenny, and sisters Linda, Wanda, and Joan.

He will also be well remembered by his nieces, nephews and their families. They will continue to cherish their “Uncle Larry” stories, which will serve as warm reminders of his sincere kindness, gentle nature and willingness to help all. Children especially loved him, and he will be truly missed by those lucky enough to have grown up with him in their lives.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 PM on Tuesday, Sept. 15 at Heritage Funeral Home, masks and social distancing are required. Burial will be private.
