Lillian (Scott) Samuel

Lillian Scott Samuel, 92, of Chattanooga, TN, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at Morning Pointe Assisted Living on Shallowford Rd.

Lillian was born on January 11, 1927 in Loudon, TN, to the late Maynard and Louise Rynes Scott. She lived in Loudon until 1942 when her family moved to Cleveland, TN. She graduated from Bradley High School in 1945. She moved from Cleveland in 1955 to Chattanooga, where she lived until her death.

She was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church for 61 years, where she was a Deacon, member of Alter Guild, and a volunteer of many services. She was also a member of the Woodmore Garden Club, Indian Hills Garden Club, taught crafts, and volunteered for Hospice of Chattanooga for 25 years.

Lillian loved spending time with her daughters, granddaughters, and great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Charles Richard Samuel; daughter, Vicki McKay Chandler; and brother, Donald H. Scott.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon McKay (Tommy) Turner, Harrison, TN; sister, Elizabeth Scott Thielke, Chattanooga, TN; brother, Edward (Miriam) Scott, Cookeville, TN; four grandchildren, Kristin Turner (Bill) Rogers, Chattanooga, TN,  Amy Chandler (Bo) Kelley, Soddy Daisy, TN, Holly E. Chandler,  Hixson, TN, and Kara R. Turner, Harrison, TN;  great-granddaughter, McKaylyn  Fults-Rogers, Chattanooga, TN; special friend, Freeman Atkins,  Chattanooga, TN;  several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the loving staff of Morning Pointe of Chattanooga, Hospice of Chattanooga, and the medical staff of In Good Health.

A funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Tuesday, September 24 at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Dr. Courtney Krueger officiating. Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
