Tribute

Lowell Thomas Coe, 84 of Chattanooga, died on Thursday, October 25, 2018.

He was born on August 3, 1934 in Richwood, West Virginia to the late Ora F. Coe and Virgie Coe.  Lowell was a lifelong follower of Jesus Christ and faithful husband of 53 years to his late wife, Sharon B. Coe, his high school sweetheart, who preceded him in death in 2006.  He was an All-State High School football player and played collegiately at West Virginia Tech.  Lowell served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was a successful businessman ending his career as President of Capital Bank in Fort Oglethorpe, GA.  Lowell was involved with the Teen Ministry at Morris Hill Baptist Church, coaching baseball and football and served as Past President of the EBYAA.  He was also the first President of the McCallie Schools “Tornado Club” and former board member of the North Georgia YMCA.

Lowell retired to Springdale Golf & Country Club community in Cruso, NC.  First and foremost, he loved Jesus, his family and his country.  Lowell’s favorite greeting, when asked was “How are you doing?” and his response was “Better than you!”  When pressed, he would say “because I know Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior!”

Lowell was a devoted father to Pat Coe, Cathy Melton and Pam McCallie; a doting grandfather to Michael McCallie, Andrew McCallie, Andrea (Coe) Earls, Thomas Coe and Katie (Coe) Brown; great-grandfather to Isabella Coe, Samuel Thomas Coe, Eleanor “Nora” T. McCallie and Jude Tyler Brown.

His final request was for his funeral was to make it not a celebration of his life, but a celebration of his homecoming to Heaven.  And he reminds all, this life is but a moment in comparison to eternity.  L.T. would ask, “Where are you going to spend yours…get to know Jesus.”  Lowell would ask that you pray for each other.

A Celebration of his Homegoing will be held at 3 PM Monday, October 29, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Chuck Patrick officiating.

Lowell ask for no flowers and that you send that money to your favorite charities or to his, Shepherd’s Arms Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 16758, Chattanooga, TN 37416 or the Chattanooga Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 3624, Chattanooga, TN 37404.
