Maida Juanita Cook Rardin of Chattanooga, TN passed away peacefully on June 11th .

She was born on December 9, 1920 in New Haven, West Virginia and lived 97years.  She was the first child of Robert and Minnie Cook (King) and had 4 siblings. She graduated in 1940, from Wahama High School in Mason County, WV.

On June 22, 1946 she married Daniel Amos Rardin, Jr. in Athens, OH.  They shared 70 years together moving to Waukegan, IL and then Chattanooga, TN in 1951 where they lived in East Ridge, TN.

Maida was a devoted homemaker and served in a variety of capacities with her husband at their business, the Rent All Store, in Chattanooga.  She was a member of Brainard Presbyterian Church, and then, the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church.  She was an active member and enjoyed square dancing, ballroom dancing, arts, crafts, sewing and was a gourmet cook.  She was the proverbial Southern Lady, hostess and a talented, devoted mother of 3 boys.

She is survived by her 3 sons, Rodney (Helen) of Alabaster, AL, Mike (Becky) and Dale (Cherie) of Chattanooga; 5 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Larry King (Wanda) of Milton, WV. 

A private graveside service for family members will be held at the Chattanooga National Cemetery on June 22.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church or a charity of your choosing.
