Marie Ward Bryson Crimmins passed away at age 91 on June 19, 2021 at her home.
She was preceded in death by her parents Mildred Foley Bryson and Edmund Ward Bryson and her beloved husband of nearly 67 years John B. Crimmins, Jr.
A native of Chattanooga, she was born July 22, 1929. She was educated at The Bright School and Girls Preparatory School. After the family's move to Atlanta, she graduated from Washington Seminary which later became part of The Westminster Schools in Atlanta. She attended Marymount College in Tarrytown, NY. After her marriage, Marie returned to Chattanooga where she and John established their home on Lookout Mountain. She was an active volunteer in her community, serving on several boards.
A long-time member of Our Lady of the Mount Catholic Church, she served on the Altar Care Committee for over 60 years. She enjoyed gardening and traveling. Affectionately known as MomPom to her grandchildren, she and John particularly enjoyed attending the school and athletic activities of their children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her sister-in-law Anne Crimmins Awad, of Signal Mountain; cousin, Florence Bryson of Winchester, Ohio; her five children, John (Debbie) Crimmins III, of Houston, TX, Ward (Sally) Crimmins, of Signal Mountain, Meg Crimmins Beene, Ryan (Boofie) Crimmins, and Chris (Susan) Crimmins, all of Lookout Mountain; as well as niece,, Mary Anne (Rick) Williams, nephew Bert (Julie) Kaiser, and great nephew, Sam Kaiser.
She is also survived by eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; Jenny Marie (Sam) Gunn, and children Declan and Vivien of Atlanta; John ( Poonam) Crimmins IV and daughter,r Naya Marie, of San Francisco, CA,; Charlotte (Aaron) Wells and sons Bennett and Elliott, of Chattanooga TN,; Ryan (Melissa) Crimmins, Jr. and daughters Mary, Erin and Bethany of Oxford, UK,; Conley Crimmins, of Charleston SC, Will (Scout) Crimmins, of Charlottesville, VA, Bryson Crimmins and Elizabeth Crimmins ,of Lookout Mountain.
The family would like to extend appreciation to the West Team of Hospice of Chattanooga and very special thanks to her caregivers Amber McCallister, Barbara Cooper, Tina Bruce and Benita Long for their care and support. Memorial donations in her name may be made to Our Lady of the Mount Catholic Church, Hospice of Chattanooga or the Lookout Mountain School Annual Fund.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 30th from 10:45 to 11:45 in Shuler Hall at Our Lady of the Mount,1227 Scenic Highway, Lookout Mountain, GA. A Celebration of Life Mass will follow at 12:00 pm in the church sanctuary.
