July 21, 1955 ~ December 3, 2023 (age 68) 68 Years Old

Tribute

Mark Steven Ward, age 68, of Chattanooga, TN, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023. Born on July 21, 1955, in Nuneaton, England, he was the cherished son of the late Raymond Alfred Ward and Margaret Rose Brindley Ward. After forty fulfilling years in CA, Mark found solace in Chattanooga.

Mark was a dedicated family man, deriving immense joy from ensuring the well-being of all his loved ones. His unwavering devotion extended to his wife, Inger Ward, and his children, Jordan Ward, Louise Ward, and son-in-law Conor Martin. Mark cherished every moment spent with his family, especially his two granddaughters, Madeleine Martin (9) and Adrienne Martin (3).

Mark's warm, sarcastic humor brought laughter to those around him, occasionally accompanied by an eye roll at one of his "lame jokes" from his wife and daughter. His huge heart and soft center were well-known, especially to his loving wife, Inger. Despite a busy life, Mark always remembered to express his love, creating lasting memories through simple, heartfelt gestures, such as kissing his wife and expressing gratitude after she prepared his dinner, saying, “That was wonderful, Inger. Thank you.”

A beloved friend to many, Mark maintained connections with old grammar school friends back in England. He found joy in playing golf, boasting a Hole in One on what his son-in-law dubbed the world's hardest par three. Soccer was a passion in his prime, and he relished the role of "copilot" during long drives down the coast with his wife. Mark also indulged in the simple pleasures of life, occasionally cheating on his diet with a grin. Holidays, especially Thanksgiving, held a special place in his heart.

Mark's sacrificial commitment to his family defined him. He referred to the women in his family not by their given names but as "love," ensuring they knew they held a special and everlasting place in his heart. His over-the-top loving manners to strangers, particularly those in the service industry, left a positive and lasting impact on his family.

As a meticulous engineer, Mark embraced the philosophy of executing tasks with precision and without errors. Even a seemingly straightforward home improvement project could consume an entire day, underscoring his unwavering commitment to excellence. Beyond his family, Mark held a deep affection for his pets, Kitty Kitty and Ben, whose unique charm had a remarkable ability to transform Mark into the affectionate "love bug" that his family knew so well.

Mark Ward will be remembered for his selfless dedication to family, his enjoyment of life's simple pleasures such as watching Fox News, and a legacy of love that has left cherished memories. His impact will persist in the hearts of all those fortunate enough to have known him.

“Love is everlasting and it never falters.  It is the greatest gift the Almighty gives us.  It Never ends.”

A private service will be held.
