Martha Lerch Norris, 89, died peacefully at her home on Monday, June 6, 2022.
Martha was a daughter, wife, sister-in-law, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, matriarch of the Don Norris family, and dearest friend in the truest sense of the word.
She was a graduate of Central High School.
Her commitment to her family was characterized by grace, wisdom, courage, laughter, and fun.
Together with her husband, Don, set a wonderful example as nurturing and loving parents.
Always planning trips in their motor home and taking friends along; family trips to the Smokies; travels for Don, Elaine, and Lynne to sing (Martha said she was the “toe tapper”); and weekends to watch their beloved Tennessee Volunteers.
In 1998 Don’s sudden and unexpected death was a blow Martha could faintly comprehend or bear.
A person of deep, abiding faith, Martha was the first to say, “life goes on”. She inspired us.
Supported by her faith in God, friends and family, she was remarkably brave and strong when coping with heartbreak.
She will always be remembered as a loving, compassionate, generous and fun person. The memories left behind ensure that thinking of her will always bring a smile and warm the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughters, Elaine Norris Prewitt Farmer and husband, Lenny; Lynne Norris; dear grandsons, Joshua Prewitt and his wife, Evie; and Jordan Prewitt; great-granddaughters whom she adored, Ember Kate and Hallie Mae Prewitt; cousins and dear friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 11th at 1 pm in the chapel of Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, Franklin, TN. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm.
