Mary Ruth Sisemore, 90 of Chattanooga, died peacefully at her home on Friday, January 4, 2019, in the presence of her family.
Mrs. Sisemore penned her own obituary some time before her passing, and it follows (with minor editorial updates): “I was born April 24, 1928 to William Clinton and Mildred Hall Tatum in Dekalb County, AL. I was the first of three children (and is survived by) Sarah Frances (Jagoditsch) and William Earl Tatum. My grandparents were William and Martha Hall and Jesse M. and Ella Tatum. They are buried in north Alabama at Pine Grove (Hall) and New Home (Tatum). They were all godly people.
I was married June 23, 1945, to Jack Sisemore of Chattanooga, TN. We were married for 62 years and always lived in Chattanooga. We have one son, Timothy A. Sisemore, born November 17, 1955. Tim has been married for 31 years to Ruth Mary (nee Mosblech) and they have one daughter, Erin Rebecca, 28.
Jack died on January 17, 2007, at the age of 80. He was a godly man and loved by everyone who knew him. He was a deacon and Sunday School teacher most of his adult life. Tim received a lot of his father’s love for the Scriptures and has become a well-known author. He is active with his church. Erin is the pride and joy of all of us. She is a fine, beautiful Christian girl that makes us all very proud. Ruthie has been a good help mate for Tim.
I don’t know why I lived so many years but have tried to do good for others along the way. The last 12 years were not easy for me, having lost Jack, and I felt so alone. Tim and Ruthie have been very good to me for which I am grateful. Sarah has also been help to me as well as my brother Earl (faithfully caring for my finances). My church family (at Concord Baptist) has been great as well as my host of friends.”
Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Monday, January 7, at Concord Baptist Church,
7025 East Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421, with Rev. David King officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Sisemore has requested donations be made to Concord Baptist Church, where she faithfully served in the Children’s Ministry for over 25 years.
