Palama M. Kinsey-Johns

December 7, 1922 ~ June 3, 2017 (age 94) 94 Years Old


Palama Kinsey-Johns was born on December 7, 1922 to Charles A. and Margaret Murren in New Jersey.  She was a Registered Nurse in New Jersey, Florida and Tennessee.  She retired from Combustion Engineering in Chattanooga after over 20 years and for 10 years was a Docent at the Tennessee Aquarium.

 

Palama was preceded in death by her husbands William Francis Kinsey and Harry Joseph Johns, and her son William Charles Kinsey.  Palama was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church for many years and most recently has been a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church.  Palama loved music, reading and was an excellent pianist. She also particularly enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

 

Palama Kinsey-Johns is survived by her children Deirdre (Roe) Hamill, former Chattanooga Mayor Jon (Candy) Kinsey and Leigh (Tom) Kontovich and her stepsons Doug (Jane) Johns and Ed (Denise) Johns.  She is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

 

 

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 6, 2017 from 4:00 to 6:00 P. M. at Heritage Funeral Home.  A private service will be held.  Burial will be in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
